May 9, 2011 Man vs. Food: Manhattan Style

Today Curtis and I went to lunch at a burger place that we'd heard about but never tried. Curtis suggested that we try Big D's Burger Shack on Fort Riley Blvd., so we did.

We looked at the menu and made our choices. I heard CB say that he'd have a "Cowboy" (pause for gay jokes....) but I didn't give any thought to just what kind of hamburger that would be. Shortly after he ordered, a woman who was there with her family said "If you eat the whole thing, you get to sign the wall."

Then I started looking around and saw the wall full of signatures of people who were able to eat the 1 pound cheeseburger. Curtis started looking a little nervous.

Here's the "Cowboy" in all it's glory. Three one-third beef patties, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onions on Texas toast. Beer battered french fries (to die for) are there too.

Curtis took a deep breath and got started.

About half way through the mega-burger, Big D came out to see how CB was doing. Seems that Big D retired from the fire department and decided to open this burger shack. I'm glad he did!

And he ate the whole thing.

In our never ending search for the perfect cheeseburger, we have a new contender.
